2000 | - January: Y2K becomes a non event.
- January: I joined Citibank in Sydney as Manager in the Private Banking Department.
- March: Dow Jones and Nasdaq reached its peak. The longest bull run since 1993 is the longest in the history. The bubble would burst the following year.
- May: Real Madrid won their 8th. European Cup after outclassing Valencia 3-0 in Paris.
- July: France crowned European Champions after beating Italy 2-1 in Amsterdam during extra time.
- September: The Sydney Olympics.
- November: Republican candidate George Bush defeated Democrat Al Gore in a controvesial US presidential election.

2001 | January: President Bush sworn in. February: I started my MIB course in Sydney University under ADB scholarship. May: Bayern Munich won their 4th. European Cup title after 25 years, beating Valencia 7-6 on penalty (1-1). September: 911. 5000 people perished in New York. November: Afghanistan invaded as part of the war against terrorism.

2002 | - May: Real Madrid won their 9th. European Cup, beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in Hampden Park. Zidana scored a classic volley.
June: Brazil won the World Cup for the fifth time beating Germany 2-0 in Yokohama, courtesy of Ronaldo's 2 goals. June: I was retrenched from Citibank in Sydney. July: I graduated with a MIB from Sydney University. September: I joined UTAR PJ as Lecturer in Banking & Finance.

2003 | May: US troops invaded Iraq and deposed Saddam Hussein. May: AC Milan defeated Juventus 4-3 penalty in Manchester after a boring goaless draw. October: Dr M steps down after 22 years as PM. Abdullah Badawi replaced him as the 5th Malaysian PM.

2004 | March: Dollah Badawi led Barisan National to a historic 90% sweep of parliamentary seats on the promise of reform against corruption and liberal policies. It turned out later to be a political gimmick. May: Porto won the European Cup beating PSG 3-0. July: Greece became European Champion after beating Portugal 1-0. August: Greece hosted the summer Olympics, their first since 1896. December: Tsunami tragedy claimed nearly 300,000 lives.

2005 | January: President Bush sworn in for the second term as US president. May: Liverpool won their 5th European Cup in a sensational fashion. Trailling 3 goals in the first half, they made a comeback to equalise and later won 4-3 on penalty against AC Milan. Istanbul magic.Maldini scored after 53 seconds, the fastest goal in history of Cup final.

2006 | January: I was appointed as PNB panel speaker. May: Barcelona won the Euroepan Cup beating Arsenal 2-1 in Paris. July: Italy won their 4th. World Cup beating France 4-3 on penalty in Germany (1-1). December: Buddhist pilgrimage to India:- Lumbini, Sarnath, Bodhigaya and Kushinara.

2007 | May: AC Milan avenged their 2005 defeat by beating Liverpool 2-1. This is their 7th. title. Maldini, the captain won his fifth winner's medal. May: The beginning of sub prime mortgage crisis in US.

2008 | March: Realizing that they have been taken for a ride, Malaysian voters created a political tsunami which resulted in BN worse defeat in history. Pakatan Rakyat captured 5 states; Kedah, Penang, Perak and Selangor, while retaining Kelantan. FT also fell to PR. May: Red Devils won their 3rd. European title beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalty (1-1) in Moscow. UTAR gets a new President from MMU. He brought in his cronies from MMU. The end of an era and the beginning of a new one. Looks like a long dynasty in Kampar. June: Spain won the European Nations Cup for the second time beating Germany 1-0 in Vienna. August: China hosted the best Olympics ever. I delivered my last lecture at UTAR. September: Under siege PM Dollah Badawi announced he will step down in March 2009. Gerakan is seriously mulling whether to leave BN after 60% of its grassroot say they should. A reporter, Teresa Kok and RPK the Malaysian "James Dean" were arrested under ISA. Only RPK was sent to Kamunting for 2 years detention. After 6 years working in KL and PJ, I left Damansara Utama on 25 September. September: Sub prime reached its peak. Lehman Brothers filed for Chapter 11, Merril Lynch bought by BOA, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac taken over by the US government. Washington Mutual bought by JP Morgan which bought Bear Sterns in April. Citigroup acquires Wachovia. September: $700 billion bail out plan rejected by US Congress. Dow Jones lost 777 points in a day's trading, the worst in history. The crisis hit European banks. October: I joined Wawasan Open University Penang officially on 6th. October as Program Director of Banking and Finance. My first post retirement job.
